ПМП (residencia definitiva) — 3 роки проти 5 років до громадянства; строки паралельні. Ст. 152(4) Спеціального закону про міграцію: постійне проживання можуть отримати «Residentes temporales que hayan tenido tal condición durante los tres años anteriores a la solicitud». Для іспанців та іспаноамериканців — 1 рік (п. 3), для центральноамериканців — одразу (пп. 1–2), а п. 5 відкриває маршрут тим, хто має понад 7 років законного перебування, але не подовжив тимчасову резиденцію. Ст. 116 дозволяє змінити статус на постійний за виконання цих умов.
