ПМП («resident status») — 5 років, але це НЕ автоматичне право: ст. 6(1)(a) Закону про імміграцію (гл. 18:01) дозволяє міністрові «if he thinks fit» надати статус тому, хто «has been continuously resident in Trinidad and Tobago for five years or such shorter period (not being less than twelve months)», і лише за умови, що заявник за освітою, кваліфікацією чи досвідом здатен успішно влаштуватися в країні й має достатні засоби для утримання себе та родини.
